Spunky Home Office

Colorful, Textural, Functional

This room was open to the entryway and open to the 2-story family room, creating lots of echos and visual distractions. Our homeowner wanted to enclose the space for a more functional home office where she could focus and store everything out of sight.

For this newly enclosed space, we added some interest and personality with classic millwork in a fun hue. We color drenched the walls but left the decorative ceiling intact. Lighting was non-existent to start, so we wired in a gorgeous ceiling fixture with lots of texture and 2 wall sconces to frame the desk (all on dimmers, of course!) 2 floor lamps and 2 table lamps round out the space for lots of needed light. The desk lamp is cordless with a rechargeable bulb so there's no cord to trip over!

For furnishings, we started with the desk and storage pieces she'd been eyeing and designed the room to flow and function around them. We added comfortable seating for guests or for a different perspective when working. The leather sofa pulls out into a queen bed for extra overnight guests, so we installed drapes around the door to allow for privacy. (check out the video of them opened and closed.)

For her adorable pups, we placed large ottomans under each window so they can keep an eye on the yard while keeping her company at work.

It was a joy to pull this space together with color and texture, but we' re most excited about how well the room works for our client's needs. Mission accomplished (plus it's such a wow space right after you enter the home!)
