Fall 2021 Interior Design Trends

Updated: Jul 18, 2022

The largest furnishings trade show event of the season, High Point Market, just wrapped up! So, we’re sharing 3 of the biggest trends from the Fall 2021 event so that you don’t miss out!

Trend #1: Earthy, Natural Materials

There was no shortage of nature-inspired elements at @highpointmarket! We're seeing stone, wood, rattan, jute, and other materials grounded in nature used across home furnishing categories. These types of items connect us to the outdoors and bring a natural beauty inside our homes.

We're especially loving these 2 examples:

* canopy bed hand-wrapped with natural fine abaca rope from @Palecekdesign

* rattan lattice cube pendant from @HudsonValleyLighting

Trend #2: Mixed Materials

A mix of fabric types can be bold and striking. It's so fun to see this trend emerging because for a long time, we've been designing spaces with a variety of materials used across furnishing categories. Now, we're seeing a mix of materials being used together in the SAME piece (a pillow, chair, or light fixture)! We're especially loving these 2 examples:

* leather and fabric sofa from @chaddockhome

* brass and leather wall sconce from @ngalatrading

Trend #3: Texture

We're seeing textured items appear prominently in furnishings across the board - even in the latest wallpaper designs! Wooden pieces, like sideboards and chests, are showcasing engravings and unique textural enhancements. Upholstered pieces are embracing this trend with woven designs and heavily textured fabrics. We love how these pieces feel rare and create a collected vibe that adds depth and interest to our home spaces.

Here are 2 stand-out examples:

* knitted sock weave Wailea Daybed from @bernhardtfurniture

* glitzy Boen Bar Cabinet from @shaylacopas for @ChelseaHouseInc
